Wit collects nothing.

Wit is a writing app that runs entirely on your computer. It has no account, no analytics and no tracking, and it sends nothing about you or your writing over the internet.

The app.

What you write in Wit is saved as plain text in the folders you choose, with a small settings file beside it. Wit keeps a list of the books you have open and its own preferences on your computer, in its own settings folder. None of it leaves your computer unless you send it somewhere yourself.

Wit runs a small web server inside the app so the editor can show your pages. It only listens on your own computer (127.0.0.1) and cannot be reached from the internet. Links you click in a document open in your browser.

This website.

usewit.app counts visits with Plausible, which uses no cookies and keeps no personal data: only page views, the page you came from, and your country. Downloads come from GitHub, under GitHub's own privacy policy.

If you write to us on GitHub, we use what you send only to answer you.

Questions.
